Global R&D sites

The Agrochemicals Research Centers and affiliated companies are engaged in research and development (R&D) ranging from active ingredients to formulations, while the head office conducts promotion of development, production, registration, as well as intellectual property management. Overseas, R&D and other work are conducted at bases in Thailand, India, and France.

Agrochemicals Research Center・
Biological Solutions Research Center
(Mobara, Japan)

Our research center in Mobara, Chiba prefecture, is primarily engaged in exploratory research on the new agrochemicals. Molecules was design using computer followed by actual synthesis, and confirm the biological activity of the obtained new compounds on a wide variety of pests and weeds. We are also conducting in vitro evaluation studies at the active site and predicting the affinity between compounds and active site receptors using computational methods, which are utilized for designing new compounds. In addition, from the early stages of exploratory research, we evaluate the safety of new compounds in terms of environmental dynamics and cytotoxicity, leading to the creation of safe and environmentally-friendly agrochemicals.

Agrochemicals Research Center・
Production Technology Department
(Yasu, Japan)

Our research center in Yasu city, Shiga prefecture, is primarily engaged in research on the formulation of agrochemicals and pesticides for Life Solutions. The purpose of formulation is to maximize the efficacy of the active ingredients in the agrochemical and to reduce labor during the agrochemical treatment process, but in recent years, there has been a need to reduce the environmental impact and to accommodate the mechanization of agricultural operations. We are developing high-performance products using the glasshouses and test plots on our sites to confirm the effects on pests and weeds for various potential formulations such as liquid, powder, and granule. In addition, we evaluate the of compounds in environment and crops to contribute to the development of products with lower environmental impact. We are also evaluating efficacy of pesticides for termite flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches.

Agrochemicals Research Center
Experimental field (Inashiki & Odawara, Japan)

At our research center in Inashiki city, Ibaraki prefecture, we have our own 9.4 hectare field, and Odawara City, Kanagawa prefecture, we have our own 1.5 hectare field where we grow paddy rice, vegetables and a variety of fruits like apples and pears. We are verifying the efficacy of new products under developent and new applications for existing agrochemicals by testing them in actual fields.

Production Technology Department (Omuta, Japan)

In Omuta city, Fukuoka prefecture, we are conducting research on industrial manufacturing methods for active ingredients. In preparation for actual commercial production, we ramp up the laboratory-level synthesis method at the time of compound discovery into a manufacturing method that can safely and stably produce products that satisfy the required quality while conducting various scale-up studies. At the same time, we also provide technical guidance to contract manufacturers of active ingredients, including those overseas.

R&D Head Office

Located in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, each department of the R&D head office is responsible for the speedy development of R&D stage themes to the market through collaboration with global research, registration, and sales bases. We conduct R&D to deliver safe and reliable products to our customers through the functions of product development, registration, production technology and production management, and intellectual property management. We are also actively working on developing next-generation products to create new value while catching up market needs.

Lab-MCAG (Thailand)

Japanese researchers are stationed at Gap Industries in Ratchaburi province, Thailand, to conduct research. We are conducting practicality evaluation of agrochemicals in fields under environmental conditions significantly different from Japan to confirm their efficacy against pests that are difficult to evaluate in Japan and to study treatment methods suitable for the Southeast Asian region.

Other overseas registration operations and testing sites (India and France)

In India, registration services are provided by the joint venture Solinnos Agro Sciences, and in France, field tests and bioassay screenings are run by Japan Agro Services.
